EHW 4th Annual Summer Mission Trip: Operation Nola Fire July 24 – August 1, 2010

Let them give glory to the Lord,
And Declare His Praise in the coastlands,
The Lord will go forth like a warrior
He will arouse His zeal like a man of war.
He will utter a shout, yes. He will raise a war cry.
He will prevail against His enemies. Isaiah 42:12-13

Once again the Lord is taking an army to the streets of New Orleans to share The Good News with a very troubled neighborhood.

The mission is clear: the Lord wants to replace the violence with His Peace, the despair with His Hope, and neglect with His Presence.  He is going to crush the works of the devil because our God is a mighty God.

The Lord utters His voice before His army. Surely His camp is very great.  For strong is the one who carries out His word.  The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, and who can endure it? Joel 2:11

Are you one of those who will join with us as we pursue transforming a neighborhood from darkness to His marvelous Light?

He is calling His servants from around the country and appointing us as a covenant to the people of New Orleans, to bring light to the Eighth and Ninth Ward, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeons, and release those who dwell in darkness from the prison. (See Isaiah 42:6, 7).

The Lord has been crying over the sins of this community.  He has been weeping over the death and destruction of His children. I hear Him declaring through His Word, “enough is enough, repent and turn to me for I love you and will forgive you and bring restoration to you and your family.”

Then the Lord will be zealous for His Land, and will have pity on His people. And the Lord will answer and say to His people, Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine, and oil.  And you will be satisfied in full with them. And I will never again make you a reproach among the nations. Joel 2:18, 19

Here is a list of the strategies for Operation Nola Fire:

1. Door to door street evangelism in one of the most troubled neighborhoods in our nation.
2. Daily barbeques in front of Abiding Temple: feeding hundreds with food and the Lord’s message of hope and plan of salvation.
3. Sending out teams of business men and women into the neighborhood, visiting dozens of businesses and community leaders in order to share the Gospel, and pray for their businesses and neighborhood.
4. Following the church barbeque, evening revival and worship services where we will bring many into the church who would never go to church.
5. Ministry to children in the local park: horseback riding, puppet shows, games, and sharing Jesus with hundreds of kids who never get a chance to go to church or hear about Jesus.
6. Evening career classes where guest speakers will teach the proper way to conduct business and obtain successful jobs God’s Way.
7. An outdoor neighborhood concert, praising God and allowing the Holy Spirit to draw the drug addicts, prostitutes, and gangs into the presence of God.
8. Practical physical work projects: repairing walls, building fences and fixing anything that Pastors Marc and Angie Smith need to have done.
9. The final day concludes with a Mighty Neighborhood March where we march through the neighborhood gathering the neighbors and bringing them back to the church for a Message from God, a Pancake Dinner, and distribution of Gifts from The Father – food and clothes for those in need.
