EHW 4th Annual Summer Mission Trip: Operation Nola Fire July 24 – August 1, 2010
May 18, 2010
Let them give glory to the Lord,
And Declare His Praise in the coastlands,
The Lord will go forth like a warrior
He will arouse His zeal like a man of war.
He will utter a shout, yes. He will raise a war cry.
He will prevail against His enemies. Isaiah 42:12-13
Once again the Lord is taking an army to the streets of New Orleans to share The Good News with a very troubled neighborhood.
The mission is clear: the Lord wants to replace the violence with His Peace, the despair with His Hope, and neglect with His Presence. He is going to crush the works of the devil because our God is a mighty God.
The Lord utters His voice before His army. Surely His camp is very great. For strong is the one who carries out His word. The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, and who can endure it? Joel 2:11
Are you one of those who will join with us as we pursue transforming a neighborhood from darkness to His marvelous Light?
He is calling His servants from around the country and appointing us as a covenant to the people of New Orleans, to bring light to the Eighth and Ninth Ward, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeons, and release those who dwell in darkness from the prison. (See Isaiah 42:6, 7).
The Lord has been crying over the sins of this community. He has been weeping over the death and destruction of His children. I hear Him declaring through His Word, “enough is enough, repent and turn to me for I love you and will forgive you and bring restoration to you and your family.”
Then the Lord will be zealous for His Land, and will have pity on His people. And the Lord will answer and say to His people, Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine, and oil. And you will be satisfied in full with them. And I will never again make you a reproach among the nations. Joel 2:18, 19
Here is a list of the strategies for Operation Nola Fire:
- Door to door street evangelism in one of the most troubled neighborhoods in our nation.
- Daily barbeques in front of Abiding Temple: feeding hundreds with food and the Lord’s message of hope and plan of salvation.
- Sending out teams of business men and women into the neighborhood, visiting dozens of businesses and community leaders in order to share the Gospel, and pray for their businesses and neighborhood.
- Following the church barbeque, evening revival and worship services where we will bring many into the church who would never go to church.
- Ministry to children in the local park: horseback riding, puppet shows, games, and sharing Jesus with hundreds of kids who never get a chance to go to church or hear about Jesus.
- Evening career classes where guest speakers will teach the proper way to conduct business and obtain successful jobs God’s Way.
- An outdoor neighborhood concert, praising God and allowing the Holy Spirit to draw the drug addicts, prostitutes, and gangs into the presence of God.
- Practical physical work projects: repairing walls, building fences and fixing anything that Pastors Marc and Angie Smith need to have done.
- The final day concludes with a Mighty Neighborhood March where we march through the neighborhood gathering the neighbors and bringing them back to the church for a Message from God, a Pancake Dinner, and distribution of Gifts from The Father – food and clothes for those in need.
Is God calling you to be part of this mission project? What is He speaking for you to do?
Is time for you to enter the streets as His Ambassador, or work with the children at the neighborhood park?
Is God calling you to part of the worship team or teams?
You could be part of the team of business men and women who will visit the neighborhood businesses or perhaps you could help build a fence or repair a wall.
Would you become part of our team of intercessors who will help prepare the way?
Finally, maybe God is speaking to you about helping us finance this outreach. You may go to our website and donate online at www.executinghisword.com or you may send your offering directly to:

Mardi Gras Outreach, Feb.11-17, 2010
January 23, 2010
Dear Friends,
Once again we are headed to New Orleans for Mardi Gras Thursday February 11 and will return February 17. For many of us this is an outreach we have participated in for over twenty years and, for some, it will be their very first time.
WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS. I am asking for those of you who plan on praying for us, please let me know so I can place you on a list that I will provide regular updated prayer requests. The spiritual battle for this outreach is intense and we really appreciate those who pray for us.
Would you take a moment right now and pray for our team?
- For  our physical health and strength.
- For our families protection while we are gone.
- For our financial needs to be met. Many are going that are struggling financially.
- For the leadership to have the Mind of God as decisions are made.
- For a mighty move of God where many are saved, delivered and restored.
God Bless and please let me know if you will commit to praying for us as we take the gospel to New Orleans.
Nelson Ligon

New Orleans Summer 2009 Mission Trip
May 6, 2009
Mission
We are heading to New Orleans for our third straight summer July 25 – August 2, 2009. After going to New Orleans during Mardi Gras for over 2o years, the Lord has called many of us to help Pastors Marc and Angie Smith spread the gospel throughout the neighborhood surrounding their church.
While the church was restored after Hurricane Katrina, the surrounding neighborhood continues in physical, emotional and spiritual devastation.
We have seen God do amazing things the past two summers and realize that there is much more to be done.
You can be a part of this unique opportunity and see God restore gang members, drug addicts, prostitutes and the homeless to a relationship with their Creator.
On this trip you will:
•   Participate in daily prayer meetings, testimonies and Biblical evangelistic training
•   Work the neighborhood streets as we share the gospel with hundreds of individuals who have lost hope and are seeking help
•   Work with children, at the church, as the rest of the group works he streets
•   Participate in Barbeques as we daily feed hundreds with free food and drinks
•   Experience special revival services with incredible worship and powerful preaching
•   See lives changed by the power of God because you made the decision to rescue those who are perishing
This outreach will leave an incredible impact on your life as you witness the power of God manifest firsthand.
Your Involvement
Witnesses
No experience necessary – just a desire to share Jesus with a lost and dying world.
Intercessors
We need committed believers to pray for us. If you are interested, let us know so that we may give you specific prayer requests.
Financial Supporters
This trip will require supplies, crafts for the children, food for workers and for the neighborhood barbeques at the church.
Opportunity
This trip is designed to train individuals on how to share their faith, one-on-one with hundreds of non-believers.
Youth are encouraged to come as we have seen God call many into the ministry.
Families are welcome. We will have plenty of opportunities for young children to learn how to minister to others by:
•   Helping at the church
•   Serving food
•   Passing out toys and clothes
•   Watching their parents serve Jesus Christ
You do not have to be a Street Preacher to serve Jesus on this outreach:
•   We will need help with children’s ministry at the church
•   We are looking for those who will help cook and distribute food at the barbeques
•   We will need help distributing clothes, toys, and gifts
•   Whatever your gifts, we will put you to work
Registration
Total cost per person is $400.00 for 9 days. This includes:
•   Room and board for eight nights at the YWAM home (sleeps approximately 55)
•   Transportation for the entire trip– renting vans, gas, and insurance
•   All meals except going and coming home. You will need personal money for food on Saturday July 25 and Sunday August 2
•   Supplies needed for outreaches– tracts, gifts and food for the community, etc.
Due to a limited amount of space on vans and at YWAM, we are asking for a $100.00 non-refundable registration fee by June 30, 2009. Full payment will need to be made by July 20, 2009.
A limited amount of scholarships will be available depending on need. You may request one by contacting Nelson.

About Executing His Word
Executing His Word is a faith-based ministry whose primary purpose is to teach Christians how to effectively share their faith. We are also engaged in numerous evangelistic outreaches throughout the year as well. We purposely try to find large groups of predominately secular audiences in order to share the Gospel. New Orleans during Mardi Gras, city festivals, low-income projects and apartments, and secular music concerts are just a few examples of the type of venue we seek for ministry.

Mardi Gras Report
March 5, 2009
We have returned from New Orleans and I am excited to tell you that we had a very successful trip. Every member of our team had multiple divine appointments while we were there. I am amazed at how we just showed up and the Holy Spirit took over. It is a testimony to those of you who prayed for us; we really experienced and recognized the impact of your prayers. Here are just a few examples of what we experienced;
1.      While on the streets in the French quarter, we had a countless amount of people come to us with a real interest in finding out more about what we believe. Many gave us their email so we could stay in touch with them and follow up. There were many genuine commitments to Christ.
2.      I personally had some encounters with individuals who wanted to harm me. One man, who had a black veil over his face, had a real dark and demonic presence and began speaking evil curses when, all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit showed up with such a powerful presence that he began to move away from me very quickly. Another very angry young man wanted to burn me in the face with a cigarette but did not follow through.
3.       I also had an encounter with a lesbian police officer who was threatening to put me in jail because I set my team up on a street corner in the gay district of bourbon street. Even though our signs were “nice†and were not offensive, she went into a rage and started to throw me in jail. I was polite to her and just wanted to know on what basis she had authority to do so. This only made her more angry. Even though what she was about to do was illegal and Robert was video taping it, she did not care. I know it was your prayers that kept me out of jail. During Mardi Gras, if you go to jail, they keep you there until Wed. morning before they let anyone out (This was Sunday Night). One more interesting aspect of this encounter was that one of the gay bars, close to where we were standing while this was taking place, had music that was blaring with lyrics which chanted repeatedly, “We love Satan, we worship Satan and we are all going to hell.â€Â This repeated over and over again while this took place…I kid you not!
4.      Because of your prayers, the family members of our team did not experience any serious issues. I have had, in the past, things happen to my family that caused me to have extreme anxiety. Two years ago, my team had an encounter with a Jamaican witch doctor who told me that “he does car accidents.†At that very moment, back in Dallas, my daughter, son-in law, and three of my four grand kids were in a terrible accident on 121 in Bedford. They were hurt and their car was completely destroyed. Praise God that nothing like this happened this year. I would be lying to you if I did not confess that stuff like this torments me before leaving for New Orleans, especially this year. If I had any doubts about God sending me there, I would have backed down. This is why I need a group of friends who will really pray while we are gone. THANK YOU!
We have literally hundreds of testimonies from members of our team. I hope to have Robert put together some video to show at our upcoming “Rescue and Recovery†training seminar in Farmers Branch, Saturday March 28 at 9:00am. I would love to see you there ( more info will be up soon).
Finally, please do not cease to pray for me. I have plans to add additional outreaches to our schedule this year. These projects will require additional funds and additional time away from my business. I hope to have these additional outreaches posted on our web within the next few weeks, so keep in touch.
God Bless you and thanks again for your prayers and support,
Nelson
