General Description and Costs:
Join us this coming February for our annual mission trip to New Orleans, February 12 – 17, 2015.
We will be leaving Dallas Thursday morning February 12 at 7.oo am in vans and arrive in New Orleans sometime Thursday evening. We will stay in the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) home for our stay. We will come back to Dallas Tuesday evening, arriving between 8.00 – 10.00 pm.
Cost for this years trip will be $400.00. which includes transportation, housing, and about 70% of all meals. You are responsible for your meals coming and going (Thursday and Tuesday) and for meals when we eat out while in the French Quarter (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night). You should count on having $80.00 to $120.00 spending money. You can secure your spot immediately, but full payment must be received by January 31, unless special arrangements have been made. We do have a number of new people interested this year and we might actually get filled up, so if you know you are coming reserve your spot as soon as possible. We do have limited space on how many we can house, so don’t wait til the last minute. If you prepay and something happens and you cannot go with us, we will 100% refund your money.
There are some that end up flying in and out of New Orleans due to restrictions with work or family. If you purchase your own plane ticket or drive your own vehicle and do not stay the entire time, we will pro-rate your cost at $80.00 per night. So if you arrive Saturday and leave Monday, your cost would be $160.00 (two nights). The meals covered would be the same as the group. If you fly, we will cover local transportation and pick you up and take you to the airport.
Every day we will spend at least two hours as a group in prayer, worship and evangelism training. We expect all who stay with us participate in these meetings. We have received countless testimonies on how these meetings have changed the lives of those who come with us.
Group unity is very important and we have found that it is critical that everyone who comes understands that there will be chores for all of us. If you feel that you are only coming to preach the Gospel in the French Quarter and are not willing to wash some dishes or take out the trash, when asked, then this trip is not for you. We all must pitch in and help each other.
Never been, but want to come?
We have found that this trip is not for everyone and even strong Christians are sometimes not ready for what they will experience in the French Quarter.
If you have not been with us before we require all first-timers:
- have a strong commitment to serve Christ and be free from addictive sin related issues
- are at least 15 years old
- write a letter that includes their testimony and why they feel they are supposed to come
- provide a letter of recommendation from their pastor or spiritual leader
- turn in documents no later than Friday, January 23, 2015 so that we can review and pray over
Exceptions will only be made if through prayer we receive a peace from the Lord that you should go with us. Almost every trip we have had to tell at least one person that they are not ready. We want to protect you, as well as all those who go with us.
We do not expect you to be a spiritual giant or theological expert. We do expect you to be passionate about Jesus Christ and a team player who understands spiritual authority and is willing to be taught and learn. I have been going for 30 years and I am still learning. We do not expect everyone to be an evangelist. The body of Christ is made up of hands, feet, and arms, not just mouths. If you believe you are supposed to go, The Lord will show you what your role will be.
What to Expect:
Each day we will generally follow a similar pattern, but do not be surprised if the Lord changes things. We try to be sensitive to the Leading of the Holy Spirit.

10.00 am- 12.00 noon – Spiritual preparation at Abiding Temple

How can you help us get ready?
Whether you are able or unable to join us this year, we ask that you prayerfully consider the following needs:
-
Sponsor someone.
As a ministry committed to helping place believers on the front line, we have supported countless individuals over the years. Your aid in this area means we have greater freedom in using our funds for ministry and supplies. Every year we have among us strongly gifted evangelists who make incredible financial sacrifices to leave their jobs and homes to take the Gospel to the streets. Your financial aid helps alleviate some of the financial stress that so often follows many evangelists as they answer His call. Friends of this ministry, over the years, have helped send many to New Orleans.
-
Donate towards food & supplies.
Donations are welcomed and needed as we plan on passing out thousands of tracks and feeding hundreds throughout the week. Our trip also includes general costs involved with such an outreach, such as van rentals, gasoline, and the rental cost of the awesome YWAM home we stay at.You can make a donation today to help us by clicking this link: donate through PayPal. If you would prefer to mail a check or even Wal-Mart gift cards that we can use to purchase food when we arrive, you can do so to:

PRAY. PRAY. PRAY.
Although the financial needs are great for a mission trip like this, we must have fellow laborers praying now and during the trip. Please commit to praying for divine appointments, health and safety of our team, and that we would have an abundance of everything we need so that we can accomplish everything the Lord has for us. Additionally, be praying for our nation, the city of New Orleans, and our brothers and sisters that will join in the work of the Gospel during this outreach. There are many friends of this ministry that have been part of this outreach over the years who have helped cover us with prayer.
Without serious intercessors, who seek the Lord on our behalf, we realize we would not see the incredible miracles and fruit that takes place while working the streets of New Orleans. If you would like to commit to pray for us, please let me know and I will put you in touch with individuals who will have the responsibility to stay in touch with you to inform you, on a daily basis, of specific needs that arise while we are there.
This trip does not happen without you. Whether you join us in New Orleans, stay back and intercede for us, or contribute financially; we look forward to you being part of what God does February 12 – 17, 2015 during our trip. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions.
Thank you and God bless,
Nelson Ligon
